About Nectar Fruits

The journey of Nectar Fruits began with its founder, Rubem Fontenele, whose roots trace back to the heart of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. Rubem grew up surrounded by acai palms in his family’s backyard, where he and his family would harvest fresh acai berries directly from the trees to make homemade acai bowls—a tradition he holds dear to this day.

Born in Brazil, Rubem’s connection to the acai berry runs deep. After moving to Australia in 2004 to study English, Rubem completed his MBA by 2008 and soon decided to make Australia his permanent home. By 2015, he saw the growing demand for acai products in Australia and recognized a business opportunity. Determined to share his love of acai with his new home, Rubem sold all his personal assets, founded Nectar Fruits, and imported his first small shipment of acai berries. He began delivering directly to customers from the boot of his car, and even stored product in his bedroom freezer.

Fast forward to 2025, Nectar Fruits has grown into one of Australia’s most trusted suppliers of premium acai products and custom dispensing machines, proudly serving over 500 customers nationwide through a robust network of distributors.
