    The Radiant: Pioneering Healthier Roasting Solutions

    After a decade of running restaurants in South Africa, Jeff and Ivan Sher arrived in Sydney in 1989 looking for a business opportunity. Within a year, they were encouraged to explore the charcoal chicken industry due to its growth potential. Jeff and Ivan were committed to excellence, and once they opened their new venture, they focused on perfecting their product. They discovered that improving taste required more time preparing and nursing the coal bed for superior chicken. The Radiant's great-tasting chicken led to a significant increase in customer base, attracting clients from an hour's drive away.

    As their client numbers grew, so did daily working hours, staff numbers, overheads, and related expenses. In the following years, both Jeff and Ivan began to suffer from physical and respiratory illnesses due to constant exposure to heat and acrid smoke from charcoal emissions and toxins. Ivan's work became restricted, placing extra pressure on Jeff. This prompted both to seek alternative, safer, and healthier methods of roasting chickens. Unable to find suitable options in Australia, Jeff traveled to the USA, Italy, France, Germany, and England, but found nothing that met his needs. So, he decided to create his own solution.

    For two years, Jeff pursued his goal in every spare minute. Significant progress was made once he met Bob Black, the current manufacturer of The Radiant. From that point, Jeff became deeply involved in the project, spending most waking hours in Bob's factory, tinkering, fine-tuning, evaluating, and rebuilding his dream until he was satisfied. Within 12 months, the first prototype of The Radiant came off the production line and was installed in one of Jeff's stores.

    A few months later, a charcoal chicken seller from Raymond Terrace tracked him down, insisting on purchasing the next prototype as the local council was about to shut down his business due to excessive smoke and odor emissions. The Radiant machine was installed, solving the council problems overnight. To everyone's surprise, sales at the Raymond Terrace store significantly increased due to the more succulent flavor provided by The Radiant.

    As Jeff's shops multiplied because of the quality of his consumer product, so did the number of The Radiant machines on his premises. Jeff then focused on creating levels of store presentation that few in the industry could match, further escalating his unique style of market dominance. With innovative designs featuring rotisserie cooking in clear view of the public, The Radiant's shops have become local showpieces, attracting more clients due to the clean, wholesome, fat-free, and better-tasting product produced by The Radiant.

    The Radiant also takes pride in pioneering a multiple three-tiered salad bar concept with its display style. Signs explain the virtues of The Radiant product, promoting a fat-free, healthier option.
